This was the original material used by the industry pioneers for waterproofing fabrics for such items as Macintoshes, etc. Although somewhat superseded by the wider range of synthetic rubber coatings that are now available, Natural Rubber is still used in processes where its particular properties, and it's low price compared to most synthetics, make it an ideal material.
